Hey everyone! :)
I know, I know: "You're 4 days late!"
I was going to post before NYE, but then I changed my mind, seeing as how:
I was going to post before NYE, but then I changed my mind, seeing as how:
- during the New Year weekend I was in the beautiful island of Gozo with a group of crazy people, a lot of food and even more booze, and was not arsed to write a blog post (on account of there not being a PC in the farmhouse we were occupying for the weekend, and also my being legless and therefore unable to operate a PC anyway...)
- then came about a million family dinners for Christmas and the New Year.... (+3kgs FTW! *grrr*)
- I was busy finishing off all the stuff I thought about doing during the Christmas week, but only ended up rushing though on Monday and Tuesday...
As a kind of "round off" to 2011, I've decided to list the Top 10 things that have happened to me, or that I've discovered throughout 2011 (in no particular order):
- Fashion & Beauty Blogs! I love fashion/clothes/make-up/nails, so when I'd signed on to Blogger.com late in 2011, the first things I looked for were the fashion and beauty blogs! My favourite Fashion bloggers have got to be: Boffism, Gemsquillage, Fash Boulevard and BuyNowBlogLater! They all have such amazing style and I also love the way they write... I'm still new to the world of fashion (apart from what I read on Glamour Magazine), so they were of great help! Also, I loved Nailside (which, if you couldn't tell from the title, is about nails), as I love a bit of nail art... even though I have yet to master the art of it, myself...
- New Look and Orsay! The first time I set foot in new look, I could literally hear the Hallelujah chorus going off in my head... Of course, I whizzed straight to the shoe section and just stood there drooling for a few seconds... Then of course I realised where I was and just rushed about the whole shop like a maniac... *minute of silence for my shameful behaviour* I'd only ever been to Orsay once last winter at Arkadia in Gozo, but since the shops there have a kind of all-in-one open-air vibe, I didn't really pay attention to the name. However, I went Christmas (window) shopping there this December and I really liked what I saw... Though, being broke, I ended up not actually buying anything...
- Essence! This cosmetics brand is just amazing, because it includes a large variety of products/colours and at such reasonable prices too! I spent a whole post yakking on and on about this brand, so I'll just let you go ahead and read that...
- Friends! OK, I know what you're thinking... How could anyone have possibly only just discovered Friends?! Well, I'd obviously watched a few episodes here and there, and I <3 Jennifer Anniston, so I knew it was an amazing series... However, everything changed when my sister got the whole 10 seasons and we started watching them all in sequence.... I can safely say that the term "couch potato" was invented specifically for my sisters and myself while we were watching Friends... I loved the way all the characters changed just a bit from one season to the next, especially Rachel... She was the style icon of the 90's - 2004... In fact, if I were to pick ONE Friend that I relate to the most, it would definately be her... <3
- Atturi Salesjani/Juventutis Domus: In February 2011, I made my big début on the stage of the Salesian Theatre in Sliema... Last year was a big year for me and the Theatre, since I took part in 4 of the 6 productions - 2 in which I sang, and 2 in which I acted - and in Maltese, to be exact! It was an amazing experience for me, as I'd only ever done school concerts/musicals, and they were in English, so I got to challenge my inner actor in 2 ways - having to learn a lot of lines, and having to learn them in Maltese, which (as ironic as that sounds) is not my best language... I speak it well enough, but memorising lines is a whole other bowl of bigilla.... However, I'm glad to say that I managed to pull both parts off, and can't wait until February when I'll be co-directing/taking part in a soiree at the Salesian Theatre! (more info on that soon)
- My Blog! I started my blog about 2 months ago (beginning of November), and am really glad that I did, because I feel that it's a way to show another side of myself that my friends (or even my family) did not necessarily know existed... Also it was a great way for me to hone my writing skillz (as when I was really young I really wanted to like my idol, Enid Blyton), so I'm really glad I took the "plunge" and started this ruddy blog...
- BOSCOcrew! "BOSCOcrew is a production house which seeks to make the young direct protagonists of their own formation and that of other peers. Embracing fully the Salesian ethos ... it seeks to offer young members an innovative educative experience in the audiovisual set-up..." And I couldn't have put it better myself! My job in BOSCOcrew was mainly Production Assistant and Make-up, and I also co-directed the latest 8 Kellimni.com clips...It was a great experience and I love being part of this amazing team of people!
- I became a big sister for the fourth time... Though this time, I got a baby brother... :) (let's just say a whole lot of face-squeezing ensued...)
- I got my driver's licence! Yes, almost a whole year ago (14th January to be precise) I heard those magic words: "Għaddejt, ta!" All I'm going to say is that I had to stop myself from hugging the examiner...... xD
- My friends and family... Now these people are not all necessarily "new to 2011", but they've stuck by me from a long time before it (or most of them did), and therefore I can't start 2012 without first taking the time to thank them... Mum, Fio, Ju, Ken & all the other crazy/beautiful/amazing people that helped me in some way or another throughout 2011 - I LOVE YOU ALL! :D
Until next time,
Cheryl
xXx
